The National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ejigbo chapter has provided 300 face masks to be distributed to the people in the community.

The use of face masks has become compulsory for anyone going out as the government has warned that violators of the directive would be prosecuted.

While delivering the masks to the Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Monsuru Bello (Obe) in his office, the NYCN executive led by its acting coordinator, Comrade Akintunde Akinyele, stated that it was borne out of curiosity to assist the council government to curtail the spread of COVID-19.

Akinyele noted that the council chairman has been working hard to curb the spread of the virus in the community through various sensitisation programmes, saying the provision of the face masks was to support the government’s efforts.

His words: “As the federal government is now strictly mandating the use of face masks for everybody in addition to the social distancing and personal hygiene, we have made 300 masks available for different categories of people in Ejigbo LCDA such as the CDC, the Police, NURTW and voluntary youth organisations.”

Responding, the council chairman commended the effort of the youths and then endorsed the masks for distribution to the appropriate quarters.

He also encouraged the youths not to relent in their efforts to make Ejigbo LCDA a better place for all.

After the chairman’s endorsement, the NYSC handed over some pieces to the CDC Executives at the council premises.

Acknowledging the effort of the CDC, the youth council stated that CDC is the formidable structure that connects with the grassroots among the four tiers of Government, hence the need for providing face-masks for the CDC members.

Receiving the masks, the CDC Welfare Officer, Alhaji Tajudeen Sanni  applauded the NYCN for its sensitivities and foresightedness in curtailing the spread of COVID-19 in Ejigbo.
