As part of effort to mitigate the effect of lockdown on the residents of Oshodi in Oshodi-Isolo Local government area, Agedegudu Olushi Onigbesa royal family of Oshodi, has doled out food items to the residents.
Apart from the foods, the family led by Prince (Alhaji) Yaya Oseni-Agedegudu (JP) also provided water, soap and hand sanitisers at some strategic locations to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus in the community.
Speaking on the gesture, Prince Oseni-Agedegudu said being the adjudged royal family in Oshodi, it became imperative for the family to prevent its people from contracting the virus and to also cater for them in the time of need.
He added that the gesture by the family was in support of the effort by the local government chairman, Hon. Bolaji Muse-Ariyoh.
He said: It is the desire of the only indigenous royal family in Oshodi Kingdom to assist both Oshodi-Isolo Local Government and Lagos State Government in the war against Covid-19 by contributing our own quota through the provision of mobile water tap pails, washing hand basins, soaps, hand towels, tissue papers and sanitisers for the public across the community.
“The food packages are to support the nutritional need of the poor and vulnerable at the grassroots during this period of lockdown in the state.”
While handling the foods to the beneficiaries and demonstrating the usage of the sanitary wares, the Prince said he would not allow any calamity to befall his people as he urged them to comply strictly with the directives of the government on the COVID-19 pandemic.
