Isolo council leader appeals to IKEDC on steady power supply

Isolo LCDA leader, Hon. Remy Shittu Remy has appealed to Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) to adhere to his promise to give steady power supply during the stay-at-home period, saying this would also help the residents to comply with the directive.
The councillor representing Apena Ward said inadequate power supply was one of the factors discouraging people in his community from complying with the government’s order.
He said: “In my engagement with some of the residents on why they’ve resorted to flouting this directive, I can categorically say that epileptic power supply and the need to sustain livelihood top their list of excuses.
“At this point, I humbly plead with Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company to please make available consistent and stable power supply in order to avoid idleness and boredom for residents in the community as some people can still do some work at home if there is power supply.
He said housewives also complained that perishable foodstuff stocked in the refrigerators got spoilt due to inadequate power supply adding that noise from generators due to public power supply affect the environment.
He therefore appealed to the state government to make available more stimulus packages for residents in the community as they enter the second week of stay-at-home.
“While it appeared that the Lagos State Government has commendably been responsive in providing stimulus packages for some residents across the state via the Community Development Council (CDC) and other associations of which residents in my LGA were not exempted, it is important for the state government to reach out to more people as the stay-at-home order continues to affect their financial status. This will surely complement my little effort as a councillor representing the good and loving people of Apena Ward having, prior to this time, distributed some stimulus packages in my community.
