The people of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area LCDA) have appealed to the Member of the Federal House of Representatives in Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II, Hon. Engr. Ganiyu Johnson to sustain his monthly ‘Food for All’ programme through which about 500 families are fed every month with packs of various food items across the constituency.

The beneficiaries of the foods during the February edition distributed in some major street in Ejigbo appreciated the gesture, while urging the lawmaker not to stop the programme considering its impact on the indigent residents who were relieved as they got parcels of the food items.

One of the beneficiaries, who said she did not have anything to feed her children prior the distribution of the foods, declared that the ‘Food for All’ was one of the most appreciated programmes ever executed by the politicians in the constituency.

Chiamaka Okeke , a widow and mother of three, also a beneficiary, said she initially thought it was another campaign when she saw the cartons of foods being distributed to people because she had not seen any politician who had won elections and had come back to give such items back to the constituents that way.

Speaking about the programme, the lawmaker said he was fulfilled and delighted for fulfilling his campaign promises.

While stressing that the time to prove his integrity has come, Johnson who was represented by his wife, Mrs. Olufunke Johnson, promised that he would always feed the constituents since he discovered that they were very happy with the programme and also to maintain his integrity because he promised them that he would not run away to Abuja after they had voted for him.

He pointed out that the time had come for him to prove himself and reciprocate the mandates given to him by the constituents with their votes.

He maintained that he would sustain the programme considering the level of poverty in the society and the fact that food is a very important for survival, noting that he has been receiving a lot of feedbacks from the constituents since the programme started last year which showed that they were very happy with the programme and always looked forward to it on monthly basis.

“This programme has been touching lives, and we have decided that it would continue because many people have come to the constituency office to express appreciation with what we are doing.

“You know that leadership is about the people, once the people are happy with a particular project we would continue to delight them. They are the ones who put us there to represent them and our duty as representatives is to make them happy. We have other programmes for them and we will surely let them maximize the dividend of democracy as we have promised them,” he said.

Equally speaking about the impact of the programme, the wife of the chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area, Alhaja Ibironke Olaleye, declared that Johnson has a unique leadership style and the constituents has continued to attest to that.

She maintained that the feedbacks from the programme showed that there has not been any leader in the constituency who has beaten Johnson’s record of kindness to his people.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) ward chairman of Ilamose, Mrs. Remi Adegbite corroborated what Olaleye said when she stressed that the lawmaker promised to feed the constituents during campaign and he has not failed them.
