By Damilola Kushimo
In the spirit of festivities, Elder statesman and Apex APC party leader, Chief Muraina Akanbi Taiwo has feted grassroots members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, across Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area, LGA, in celebration of the party’s successes in the previous year and what could be said to be a toast to greater accomplishments that lie ahead.
The celebration which was held at the house of the foremost party leader; a member of the Governor Advisory Council, GAC, at Ogunbowale Street, Ilasamaja, Isolo Local Council Development Area, LCDA, recorded the attendance of leaders and party faithful across Ejigbo, Isolo LCDAs and Oshodi LGA who came in numbers to celebrate with the party leader.
According to the party leader, the celebration is aimed at bringing together party leaders across the LGA to celebrate and get more familiar with one another.
Acknowledging the fact that 2019 was indeed a great year for the party most especially in Oshodi-Isolo LGA having recorded victory for the party in the gubernatorial, senatorial and presidential elections as well as reclaiming the federal and state house of assembly seats, he emphasised that the factional issue that was synonymous to Isolo chapter of the party in the past year has been sorted and all differences have been buried; a resolution that reflected in the presence of all party members in the New Year celebration.
He, however, commended the performances of the three council chairmen in the past year, stressing that their efforts in infrastructural and human developments were commendable but, they can do more in the New Year.
He said: “Well, APC is a mega party as far a s Nigeria is concerned today. APC is the ruling party and in a ruling party you should expect something like that and when it occurs the next thing is to make reconciliation and that is what we are doing. There is no cause for alarm, we are all one now. It reflects in today’s celebration.”
Reacting to the challenge for a more impressive record in the 2020, the Secretaries to Local Government, SLG, Isolo and Ejigbo LCDAs, Hon. Emmanuel Ologede and Dr. Paul Fregene respectively said the residents should expect nothing lesser to the great transformation that was experienced in the grassroots in the past year, saying their principals remain steady to provide more infrastructures in the communities.
In the words of the Party Secretary, Isolo LGA, Hon. Engr. Tunbosun Oyegoke, the all-inclusive party will foster the relationship among party members across the three councils and help the party to perform better across all levels.
The Chairman, Community Development Council, CDC, Isolo LCDA, Mr. Segun Olatunde, who laid emphasis on the words of CDC Vice Chairman 1, Alhaji S.A. Ramoni, stressed that the unusual invitation that was extended to leaders of the CDC was a testament to the inclusive government the Party is known for.
His words: “It signifies that the party is operating all-inclusive governance. The leader is a member of G9 in Lagos State. For a leader like him to invite the CDC, it shows he has love for all in the community. This is the first time CDC would be invited. We (CDC) own the community and when we are included in things like this it will foster unity between the council chairman and the CDC.
In his message to community residents, he said: “In Year 2020, so many projects will come into Isolo LCDA through Local Government, state and members of the House of Representatives. Whatever project comes to individual CDAs and Wards, I will urge all residents to take outright ownership of the projects as they are to make the community better. This will encourage more developmental projects.”
