As part of preparations for the next masqueades’ festival in February next year, the acting leader of Egungun Masquerade in Oshodi, Prince Oseni Agedegudu Atobatele has stated that the traditional group would need to agree collectively to anoint the successors of its two leaders that died recently.

The late leader, Shafiudeen Idowu Agedegudu Baale, the Apase Òjé of Oshodi and Alhaja Chief Taiwo Arowojobe, the Iyaloja General of Oshodi market and the Iya Agan of the masquerades passed on recently.

He made the statement in a chat with ECHONEWS as he disclosed that the position left by the late Iyaloja General of Oshodi market, who held the title in the group Known as Iya Agan has to be filled.

According to him, the death of the two prominent title holders in the group requires three sacrifices to maintain peace in the community.

The sacrifices, he said, entails the prevention of constant death among people, to make peace reign in the community and to also seek long life and success for the indigenes and non- indigenes of the community.

He further informed that all different categories of masquerades had displayed in Oshodi to pay tribute to the late title holders who died within a week.
