The youths of Low Cost Housing Estate, Jakande Ejigbo under the aegis of Estate Youths Parliament (EYP), in conjunction with Red Grape Foundation has organised a medical test for the residents to ascertain the status of their eyes on some diseases especially glaucoma.

After the test, those who were found to be affected by the disease were given glasses while the drugs were prescribed for them by the medical team from Glaucoma Department of Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).

Addressing the people, the team leader, Alhaja Modinat Olaitan, urged them to take care of their eyes, stating that glaucoma could be irreversible if not promptly taken care of and could lead to blindness.

She explained that glaucoma is mostly hereditary, advising that when noticed in any family, other members should move fast to ascertain their status.

She however said it could be cured if the patients follow the prescriptions of the medical personnel or Doctor.

Appraising the programme, one of the community elders, Deacon Fola Oluwole, said the move by the youth was a great one taken for the benefit of the community.

He declared that the elders in the community were fully in support of the youths, noting that they were the ones who also fought for prepaid meters on the Estate.

Also commending the youths for putting up such programme, Pastor Taiwo Ogbebor of Great Provider Bible Ministry, Ijebu Ode, who was the special guest, urged the youths not to relent, challenging other NGOs to always look into the grassroots to help people on their challenges.
