₦8.8 Billion Budget Presented to Alimosho Legislative Council

The Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, on Monday, 15th December 2025, formally presented the 2026 Appropriation Bill totaling ₦8,807,431,296.72 to the 7th Legislative Council at the Alimosho Local Government Legislative Chamber, Akowonjo.
Of the total budget, ₦5,284,458,778.04 is earmarked for recurrent expenditure, while ₦3,522,972,518.68 is allocated for capital projects. Salaries for local government staff are projected at ₦1,137,264,302.74, primary school teachers’ salaries at ₦530 million, and political office holders’ salaries at ₦213 million. The Chairman assured the council and residents of strict implementation of the budget once approved.
Tagged the “Budget of Restoration and Renewed Progress,” the proposed plan aims to consolidate development gains while repositioning Alimosho for sustainable growth and improved service delivery. Key priorities include construction and rehabilitation of roads and drainages, staff welfare, support for the aged, widows and vulnerable groups, logistics for councillors and officials, engagement with traditional rulers, and development of markets and other critical infrastructure across the local government.
Highlighting achievements under his administration, Hon. Johnson listed the inauguration of Bamgbola and Benstar Streets, construction of the CDC building, mosque and chapel, customary court and advocacy centre, the monthly 50% food subsidy initiative “Ounje Alimosho,” construction of speed breakers at Shasha Road, distribution of 600 GCE forms to indigent students, and ongoing construction of Old Ipaja Road, public toilets, Shekoni Street in Alaguntan, Iyana-Ipaja, and Kasali Allison Street, Orisumbare.
In his address, the Chairman expressed appreciation to the Legislative Arm for its support and cooperation, emphasizing the constitutional role of the legislature in appropriating and monitoring public funds. He stressed that elected officials are custodians of public resources held in trust for the people of Alimosho.
Responding, Leader of the House, Hon. Semiu Rasheed Olamilekan, welcomed stakeholders and commended the Chairman for his vision, passion for development, and commitment to good governance. He described the budget as a roadmap for restoration and renewed progress and assured that the 7th Legislative Council would subject the bill to thorough scrutiny, deliberation, and due process.
Hon. Olamilekan reaffirmed the legislature’s resolve to work closely with the executive to deliver dividends of democracy, noting that the Chairman’s achievements within a short period have set a high standard for public service in Alimosho. He also extended goodwill messages to residents ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The event was attended by the Vice Chairman, councillors, council management, traditional rulers, community leaders, religious and youth leaders, invited guests, and members of the press, reaffirming a shared commitment to continued growth and prosperity in Alimosho Local Government.
