In a renewed demonstration of its strong commitment to youth development and empowerment, the Lagos State Government has sponsored youth ambassadors from various parts of the state on an all-expenses paid educational tour to Canada.

Among the notable participants are the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Engr. Adigun Ibrahim Olalekan, MNSE, and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Mobilization, Hon. Opeyemi Alabi, among others.

The two-week tour, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, was coordinated by the Commissioner, Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, and the Permanent Secretary, Pharm. Toyin Oke Osanyintolu.

The initiative offers these promising young leaders from Lagos the chance to explore significant academic institutions such as the renowned Queen’s University, engage in cultural exchange, and participate in a variety of enriching activities in the North American country.

In a statement on Friday, Adigun expressed his appreciation to the state government and the Ministry of Youth and Social Development for their continued substantial investment in youth-focused development. He pledged to fully utilize the opportunity.

“I am truly honored to be part of this transformative journey made possible by the visionary leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu. This experience is not just a personal achievement but also a reflection of the state’s dedication to nurturing globally competitive youth. I am confident that the insights, knowledge, and connections we gain in Canada will greatly benefit our personal growth and contribute to the progress of Lagos State,” Adigun said.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to applying the knowledge gained from the tour to enhance youth-driven initiatives and foster development-focused partnerships across various sectors back in Nigeria.

The delegation, which includes selected youth leaders and change-makers from across Lagos, is expected to return to the country later this month.

This consistent investment by the Lagos State Government in global exposure and advanced learning for young people supports the THEMES Plus development agenda, especially in the areas of education and technology.
