The Chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Shamsudeen Olaleye (Shammeh) has warned the local government workers to celebrate the Workers Day indoor as a measure to guard against flaunting the social distancing order.
While greeting the workers on the occasion of the 2020 Workers Day which could not be a celebrated globally due to the coronavirus pandemic ravaging the world, the council boss appealed to them to stay safe at home.
He particularly enjoined council workers to adhere strictly to government directive by staying at home and applying all other measures to curtail the spread of COVID-19.
Meanwhile, he praised the health and environmental services workers for leading the fight against COVID-19 at communal level, describing them as “heroes of our time.”
“I want to send a special appreciation to our health and environmental services workers in our various councils. They are indeed our heroes in these trying them by making sacrifices.
“They are laying down their lives by trailing contacts and infected persons in our communities and I used this opportunity to commend for the great job they are doing,,” he said.
