Eiyenkorin, the site of a defunct university project in Kwara State, Nigeria is set to regain its academic allure again.
, thanks to the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Babatunde Ogunwusi.
Grapevine sources said the enterprising monarch had his eyes on setting up his dream project in the South West but the National Universities Commission advised that the area was saturated.
Watchers of the youthful king are not surprised by his latest move. His seven-year reign has marked up various initiatives to boost education. These include the annual sponsorship of indigent scholars for higher degrees and various competitions to encourage the youths to embrace education.
For instance, as part of the preparations for the next Children’s Day on May 27, he is organising a Mathematics competition for children on May 20. Since the announcement, the palace has been besieged by youths seeking to register on what is certainly a journey of discovery of the youngest mathematician in his domain.
Such brilliant ideas cast the king in the robes of the champion of literacy worldwide, an achievement that is propelling to .build more legacies.
According to the promotions, the new academic institution is called Ojaja University to honour one of his great predecessors on the throne Ojaja the First. Ooni Ogunwusi is Ojaja the second.
The courses approved for teaching in the young university cuts across Technology, Sciences, Social Sciences, and the Arts. They include the professions such as Accountancy, Mass Communications, and Computer Science. Students can also study Mathematics, French, Chemistry, Physics, Microbiology, Biology, Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Economics, History, and Strategic Studies.
Anticipating the purse of parents, Ojaja University is offering to educate students at an affordable cost.
According to its promotions, Ojaja University seeks to be ” the most preferred university of choice to produce globally competitive and entrepreneurially savvy solution providers.”
Its mission is to “use the best of technologies, facilities, and infrastructures to create a conducive learning environment for prospects to excel and be the best they can be.
The university is getting ready for its first set of intakes. Following the ongoing admission examinations into higher institutions, Ojaja University is asking all students who scored above 140 to change their university of choice and pursue their dreams.
