Why Ejigbo CDA/CDC elections were delayed – Fmr CDC Secretary
By Olushola Okewole
The delay in the Ejigbo Community Development Association (CDA) elections supposed to have been concluded late last year has been linked to the Christmas and New Year festivities.
It was gathered that the residents of some areas where the elections were supposed to take place had traveled to their home towns during the festive period.
According to the former Community Development Committee (CDC) Secretary, Comr. Victor Durodola, the elections had to be postponed in order to carry along those who travelled as some of the CDAs had not purchased the form to carry out the election before their members traveled.
As at Friday last week, only 60 out of 110 CDAs in Ejigbo LCDA had concluded their elections.
He noted that the postponement of the CDA elections consequently led to the delay of the CDC election which subsequently cost the LCDA a seat in the executive of the Lagos State Community Development Advisory Council (CDAC).
Though the CDAC election which was supposed to hold on Monday, January 6 has been postponed indefinitely due to some logistic issues; Ejigbo CDC could no more participate in the election to contest for the post of the Public Relations officer (PRO) zoned to Isolo and Ejigbo as the CDC failed to obtain the form on time.
