The Management Supportive Team (MST) of Lagos State Covid-19 surveillance has educated residents on the essence of getting the second dose of covid-19 vaccine.

Encouraging the residents to take the second dose of the vaccine, the MST representative in Oshodi-Isolo LGA, Mrs Ayodele Oniwinde, urged those who had been vaccinated in the first phase to take the the second phase.

Oniwinde, who appreciated residents who came out for the vaccination so far, acknowledged their patience and tolerance of the serving staff while urging them to do a house-to-house reminder about the vaccination in their neighbourhood.

She noted that the second phase is important because it is meant to work together with the first infused vaccine, stating that both doses are antigens introduced to the body to help develop antibodies that fight against viruses.

According to her, the introduced antigens do not stop a patient from contracting Covid-19 but can serve as preventive measures against the disease as most Nigerians are now relaxed in adhering strictly to the preventive directives since they presume the disease cannot infect a common man on street.

She advised that residents who had taken the first dose should complete their dose at vaccination centres as they are due for a second dose six weeks after their first infusion while encouraging individuals that are yet to get vaccinated to go for it since it is at their doorstep.
