We’ll support state govt on projects monitoring – CDC
By Olushola Okewole
The Community Development Committee (CDC), Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has disclosed its readiness to support the Lagos State Government to serve voluntarily as supervisors to monitor the ongoing projects across the state.
The governor of Lagos state, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu made the demand at the annual Community Day celebration organised by Lagos State Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs.
The governor emphasised the importance of team work, stating that all hands must be on deck to see that quality projects are delivered by contractors working across the state.
He said the CDCs and CDAs are the real engines of growth in the state, stating that the projects in the state belong to one community or the order and that when the state sends contractors, the community should monitor them to ensure quality delivery.
Speaking to ECHONEWS on the governor’s demand, the Ejigbo CDC Secretary, Comr. Victor Durodola, said the governor has made a good move by involving the CDAs/CDCs.
He however charged the governor to empower the CDAs/CDCs to be able to challenge and correct the contractors who are found wanting in their jobs, adding that good jobs could be done only if the contractors are closely supervised and challenged.
He explained that the innovation will help the community build a working environment with the contractors as they deliver projects in the community.
He further stated that for the effectiveness of the governor’s demand, the government should ensure a proper introduction between the contractors and the community leaders to enhance perfect works and to also avoid conflicts.
He also noted that the initiative would enhance community base workers to work with the contractors in area of needs and that it would also help the leaders to effectively monitor the projects and ensure that quality projects are delivered.
