The Special Adviser to the Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government on Youth and Sport, Hon. Saheed Animashahun told ECHONEWS that the local government has been contributing to the development of grassroots sports by forming a team of talented youngsters who are paid monthly by the local government to sustain them.
Animashaun disclosed that the monthly stipend given to the players is to discourage them from engaging in social vices.
“We have a team, which was gathered by assembling the youths from the nooks and crannies of Oshodi to represent the local government at any major sport competition in Lagos state. The local government also takes care of them by paying them monthly. The coaching staff and backroom staff also receive salaries monthly,” he said.
