We are ready to return to the tennis court – Udofa

Following the plan by the federal government to allow the non contact sports to resume, Anthony Udofa, a Lawn Tennis player who trains at Adejumo Sport Complex, Ajao Estate, Isolo, has expressed eagerness of the players to return to the tennis court.
He said the sport should not have been shut down initially being a non contact game which involves only two players and an umpire who serves as the referee, noting that the distance between the players is about 9 meters.
“Many of us are eager to return because if you look at it very well you will notice that Covid-19 cannot be spread in lawn tennis because of the distance between both players in the court which is 9 meters. We urge the PTF on Covid-19 to see to the request of the honorable minister so as to allow lawn tennis resume,” he said.
Udofa also noted that international tennis championship has begun with the absence of fans, saying such could also be allowed at the grassroots as all guidelines and precautions would be followed.
However, the Minister of Youths and Sport, Sunday Dare, has said the only time sport activities could resume is when the Covid-19 reported cases have dropped significantly as he hinted that he has sent a proposal to the PTF on Covid-19 to allow few non contact sports to resume.
