The Nigeria U20 team got off to a flying start in the Wafu B U20 tournament as they thrashed Niger Republic 7-0 at the Baba Yara stadium, Kumasi, Ghana.
The Super Falconets tortured their opponent in the game with goals as Opeyemi Ajakaye grabbed a hat trick while the quadruple of Mercy Kalu, Adaobi Okah, Jumoke Alani and Chioma Olise scored a goal each in the encounter.
In the fourth minute, Esther Onyenezide provided a great assist to Ajakaye to notch in the Falconets first goal of the encounter.
Ajakaye stood tall to double Nigeria lead from close range in the game.
Kalu tried her luck from 25 meters from goal which ultimately beat the Nigerien goalkeeper to record Nigeria’s third goal in the 30th minute.
Eight minutes after the resumption of hostilities in the second half, Ajakaye got her hat trick of the game.
Okah extended Falconets lead from the penalty spot in the game.
Fullback, Alani saw her effort on the edge of the 18 meters box in the back of the net following a miscalculation from the Nigerien goalkeeper.
Olise further added to Niger Republic misfortunes in the game as she got herself in the sheet in the 90th minute.
The Super Falconets will battle Togo in their next game on May 24 at the Baba Yara stadium before squaring up against Burkina Faso on May 28 at the Paa Joe Stadium, Ghana.
