“Ungodly Attitude Amongst Youths Is Cancerous, GOD’s Gospel Is Cure” … Rev. Akinola Abolaji
The Annual Interdenominational Crusade of the Maria-Martha Baptist Association, Ejigbo, a subsidiary of Lagos West Baptist Convention, was held at the Ejigbo Mini Stadium. This year’s convention theme was, “God that answearth by fire”.
The Guest Speaker for the convention is the CAN President of Nigeria, Rev. Dr Samson Olasupo Adenyi Ayokunde. Organized by the body of Baptist Church, Ejigbo, with Rev Abolaji Akinola, the Senior Pastor of Ife Oluwa Baptist Church, at Cyril Njoku, Pipeline Ejigbo, the Chairman of all Baptist Churches in Ejigbo; as the Moderator.
In an interview with the Moderator, Rev. Akinola Ola Abolaji, the decision to bring in the CAN President as guest speaker of this year’s crusade, was a collective one, made by the organizers, having prayed and led by the Spirit of God.
“The body he represents is key and very vital. We believe, he will be able to bring Christians together and do something special to the glory of God. He is a voice everybody wants to listen to. Apart from being the leader in the convention, he is also a leader in the nation, representing the body of Christ” he added.
Rev. Abolaji said its saddening, to note that, with several churches in Ejigbo, the practice of Idolation and fetish practices persist. “I think it has to do with the people, not having enough insight and knowledge of Christ” he said.
“We aim at using the crusade to reach those who are ignorant of God’s love and Christ, to know him. We preached the love of God” affirmed.
Explaining, that the ungodly attitude amongst the youth is spreading like cancer with nothing to stop it except the gospel. “The gospel is the only antidote that can cure Fetism, Cultism and other related vices to a minimal level. Our prayers, is, for God to show his love to these youths so that they don’t go to perdition” he said.
He said the crusade was aimed at winning Souls for Christ and obey the commandment of the Lord that talks about the need to go into the world and win Souls, for Christ. “A city like this demands strategic planning hence, the need for all Christians to come together in one-fold to fulfill the mandate” he added.
Speaking about arrangements, put in place for all their conventions, Rev. Ajibola said they have committees, that take care of everything from funding, publicizing, medicals and welfare of every convention, Baptist Church organizes. Adding that conventions security is always collaboration of the church, local and state security agencies.
