Ghana U20 side defeated Nigeria 3-1 in a penalty shootout to win the maiden edition of the Wafu B U20 Girls Cup after playing a 1-1 draw in regular time.

Stella Nyamekye scored for Ghana before Flourish Sabastine leveled for the Super Falconets at the tail end of the game.

Nigeria were the brighter side in the game as they produced lots of chances which were squandered away.

A clumsy challenge from Sabastine brought down Ghana’s Comfort Yeboah in the 18-yard box which the referee wasted no time in pointing to the spot.

Nyamekye settled in well to score from the spot and gave the young Black Princesses the lead in the 39th minute.

Ghana took the lead to the break as the Falconets search for the equalizer.

Ghana goalkeeper, Afi Amenyeku pulled strings of saves to deny Nigeria the game as they surge forward for the equalizer.

Sabastine made provision for her earlier giveaway penalty as she found the back of the net in the 85th minute to equalize for Nigeria.

All efforts to find a winner from both sides didn’t pave through for the game to end in a 1-1 draw which led to a penalty shootout.

The Falconets weren’t prolific in the penalty shootout as they lost three spot-kicks and scored one against the Ghanaian side scoring three penalties and losing two which led to the Black Princesses winning the tournament 3-1 in penalty shootout.
