Nigerian singer Joeboy has weighed in on the debate surrounding South African artist Tyla following her recent Grammy win.

There was widespread reaction after Tyla won the Best African Music Performance category at the 2026 Grammy Awards with her song Push 2 Start, beating fellow nominees including Davido, Omah Lay, Wizkid, Ayra Starr and Burna Boy.

The result sparked mixed opinions online, with some critics arguing that Tyla did not deserve the award.

Speaking in a recent interview with Jay On-Air, Joeboy said that while he had personally been rooting for Davido to win, he believed Tyla was equally deserving of the accolade.
