Two men remanded in prison for sexual assault

The Ikeja Magistrates’ Court has ordered the remand of one Musa Usman at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s 10-year-old daughter.

Usman, who resides at No. 32, Ishola Yusuf Street, Iloro, Agege, Lagos was arraigned by the Police facing the charge of defilement.

The prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi told the court that Usman raped and defiled the victim sometime in December 2023 at his residence, thus, contravening section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The court also sentenced to the Kirikiri Correctional Centre, one Sunday Okonkwo, for an alleged act of sexually molesting a 14 year old girl.

Police Prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, revealed that Okonkwo committed the act in the year 2022 at Abaranje, Ikotun Lagos.

Ajayi pointed out that the accused had canal knowledge of the minor and defiled her in the process, an offence which contravenes the Criminal Laws of Lagos State (2015).

Presiding over the cases, Magistate Ejiro Kubeinje, who did not take the plea of both defendants ordered that the case files should be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP, for advice.

Kubeinje noted that the two defendants risk life imprisonment verdict and adjourned the case till February 6, 2024.
