Truck Collision In Lagos Kills Motorcyclist Leaves Passenger Injured

A fatal accident occured in Lagos and Ogun state on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning which led to the death of a commercial motorcyclist and a driver.

The accident occured in the Apapa area of Lagos State while the accident in Ogun state happened at the Car park C area of the Lagos – Ibadan Expressway.

On Wednesday, Adebayo Taofiq, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority noted in a statement that the reckless driving by a truck driver led to the collision with the motorcyclist which led to the immediate death of the motorcyclist.

“The unfortunate incident attributed to reckless driving of the Dangote truck driver, led to the immediate death of the motorcyclist at the scene,” he said.

“The collision, which occured in the early hours, was a result of the truck driver losing control due to dangerous driving. The truck struck the motorcyclist who had a female passenger on board.”

He also added that the female passenger, whose Identity is not revealed, on the motorcycle sustained injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, Apapa General Hospital, by the LASTMA Officials while the truck driver and his assistant fled the scene leaving the vehicle.

“The LASTMA officers took control of the truck and took it to the Police for further investigation.”
