Troops Arrest Suspect with Alleged Explosives in Ikorodu
Troops of Operation MESA have arrested a suspect allegedly found in possession of suspected explosives in Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos State.
Echonews gathered that the arrest was made on March 21 at about 7:45 p.m. in the Agric area of Ikorodu following intelligence reports of a civilian reportedly carrying suspected hand grenades during a public event.
Security sources disclosed that troops swiftly mobilised to the scene, secured the area, and apprehended the suspect without any reported casualties or disruption.
According to the sources, the individual was found in possession of items suspected to be 36 hand grenades at the time of arrest.
The suspect, said to be a native of Osun State but resident in Ikorodu, is currently in custody as investigations continue.
The recovered items are yet to be fully verified by security authorities.
Meanwhile, organisers and participants at the event were reportedly briefed by security operatives and advised to remain vigilant while continuing with their activities.
The suspect and the recovered items have since been handed over to military authorities for further investigation.
