Following the celebration of Lagos State Tree Planting Day on July 14, the Supervisor for Environment in Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Femi Ibine, has disclosed that the celebration is beyond creating awareness about the environmental benefits of tree planting within the community.
According to him, the sustainability of the trees is an important factor that needs to be considered and preached.
Ibine noted that reinstating the sustainability of the trees to residents would result into achieving the goal of restoring human lives on earth which has always been publicised as the essence of tree planting.
He advised residents to monitor and water planted trees in their communities to achieve the goal of this year’s theme: “Restoration and Recovery”, saying tree planting is one of the cheapest natural based climate solutions that can even enhance a lasting solution to Covid-19 recovery.
The environmental supervisor, however, appreciated the representatives of various important sectors within Ejigbo community during the tree planting exercise at Ejigbo senior grammar school in commemoration of this year’s celebration.
