A traumatized and devastated incident occurred in Lagos on Saturday when a school fence collapsed, claiming the lives of two individuals.
The incident took place in Ejigbo where the collapse occurred during heavy rainfall.
According to police reports, the victims, identified as Etim and Emmanuel, were walking home when the fence suddenly collapsed. They sustained severe injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, both died due to the injuries sustained.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundehin admitted the Ejigbo Police division received a disturbing distress call while he confirmed that the two casualties died at the Isolo General Hospital while the only survivor is receiving treatment at the Orthopedic Hospital Igbobi.
“The fence collapsed on Amaka, 30; Etim, 28; and Emmanuel, 12, all residents of Ejigbo, while they were walking home during the heavy rainfall.
“As a result, the victims sustained serious injury and became unconscious.
“They were rescued and rushed to Isolo General Hospital for treatment, where Etim and Emmanuel were confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
“Amaka is still receiving treatment at Orthopedic Hospital, Igbobi.”
Another person, Amaka, was also injured in the incident and remains hospitalized.
The Police have already initiated investigation to the abrupt cause of the collapsed building.
