Three Suspects On Trial For Stealing

The Police have arraigned by the police at the Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court over theft.

The security agency stated that the suspects: Azeez Sadiq, 35, Taiwo Olayinka, 30, and Monsurudeen Saheed 21, dragged two persons to a secluded area and forcefully collected the sum of N13,000 from them.

At the court on Thursday, the defendants were charged with conspiracy to wit felony, kidnapping and stealing.

The defendants, pleaded not guilty.

However, the Prosecutor, ASP Christian Okonofua, told the court that the accused trio committed the offences on August 20, at about 12 p.m. at Mobile petrol station, behind F One Bar, Ikorodu, Lagos.

Okonofua mentioned that residents in the area reported the act to the police who apprehended the litigants at their hideout.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 411, 172 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Presiding Magistrate, Olatunde Ogbe, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N1 million each, with two sureties in like sum.

Ogbe ordered that one of the sureties must own a landed property, and should present evidence of three years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

The Magistrate adjourned the case until October 3.
