Nigerian singer Shallipopi has spoken candidly about his early struggles in the music industry, revealing that he faced harsh treatment from some of his colleagues while trying to find his footing.
In a post shared on social media, the “Ex-convict” crooner claimed that between 2023 and 2024, several artists were unwelcoming and, in some cases, openly hostile toward him.
“2023/2024 many artist pour me spit for face… I mean manyyyyyy, that’s why I’m extra mean,” he wrote, expressing frustration over his experience.
According to him, the lack of support and difficult encounters during that period have shaped his current attitude in the industry.
Despite the challenges, Shallipopi’s breakthrough came after his hit song Elon Musk went viral, quickly pushing him into the spotlight and earning him a growing fan base.
The track later received a boost with a remix featuring Zlatan Ibile and Fireboy DML, further cementing his place in the mainstream music scene.
He had earlier acknowledged Zlatan’s support, noting that the rapper played a key role in helping his career gain traction at a critical time.
Shallipopi’s comments offer a glimpse into the less glamorous side of the music industry, where emerging artists often face rejection and tough competition before achieving success.
