Team Lagos Finishes Strong In Sixth Position At Gateway Games 2024

Team Lagos concluded its campaign at the 22nd National Sports Festival, tagged the “Gateway Games,” with a commendable sixth-place finish on the overall medals table.

The contingent from the Centre of Excellence amassed a total of 169 medals, comprising 38 gold, 43 silver, and 88 bronze medals, a testament to the dedication and resilience of its athletes across various disciplines.

Team Lagos showcased significant competitive spirit and a strong showing in key sports. The state’s consistent investment in sports development was evident in the performances, as athletes pushed their limits and brought glory to the aquatic city.

The impressive performance in boxing, as previously reported, stood out with the highest number of gold medals for the state, reflecting Lagos’s continued strength in combat sports.

Wushu Kung Fu and Weightlifting also contributed significantly to the overall tally, demonstrating the breadth of talent within the Lagos team.
