A Non-Govermental Organisation, Team Lagata Uk Foundation, has donated solar lights to Eigbo Divisional Police Station to aid the security architecture of the community.
According to the Foundation, the feature was necessary to support the police in securing the community.
Answering questions on why choosing the police station for such a project instead of communities, the CEO of the Foundation, Mr. Idowu Adebanwo explained that the project was given to the police station to power the station and relieve it of wasting money on fuel to power their generator on daily basis.
“As part of an effort in developing the communities since we all know that the government can it do it all alone, we approached the DPO of Ejigbo Divisional Police Station on how we can work together to make sure the insecurity of our community is stronger. We got to know that the station itself needed to be powered and we realised that the way we could support the police is to give them solar light instead of buying them a generator which they will still have to look for money to buy fuel.
“We can’t embark on a streetlight project for the community for now because of the huge money it requires, we may consider that later but now, we need to start from here. Solar light is too expensive but we have to do it for the station to make sure the police who secure us are not in the darkness.
“Team Lagata UK Foundation in its determination to ensure a better atmosphere and conduciveness of working environment for the Nigeria Police in Ejigbo constructed a solar light system to light up Ejigbo Police station.
“As a foundation, we have a series of programmes for the youths which we are commencing next week,” he explained.

To come up with the programme, Adebanwo said the Foundation had met with the ruling political party and the community stakeholders in the community for collaboration to bring the youths together for the development of Ejigbo LCDA.
He said: “To bring back the unity we enjoyed back, to forestall peace and harmony among ourselves as Nigerians and most especially youths, our organisation, Team Lagata UK Foundation has decides to come up with different programmes that will bring together residents of Ejigbo and Lagosians at large.
“My team and I decided to contribute our quota to the development of Ejigbo and Lagos State by implementing the efforts of governments within our communities.”
Also speaking, Hon. Dele Adeyeye said the Foundation is coming between the youths and the government to bridge the gap that exists between the two.
He said the Foundation is making an effort to bring the youths closer to the government for their involvement in governance and also trying to empower the youths through sports.
