The Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has assured persons with Albinism, under the aegies of the Albinism Association of Nigeria, of its readiness and willingness to absorb then  in its future recruitment exercise, provided they are qualified and successful at the Commissions’ screening procedures.

The Permanent Secretary, TESCOM, Mrs. Olubusola Abidakun, disclosed this at the Courtesy Visit of the Association to the Commission and affirmed that at no time in the past, has the Commission segregated and or discriminated against persons with Albinism, especially in its recruitment exercise.

She corroborated this gesture with the employment of Mrs. Modupe Mary Akinduro, a Biology Teacher at Government Senior Model College, Owutu, Ikorodu, who was employed last year and currently the Treasurer of the Association.

Others are Mrs. Oduniyi Oluwayemisi, who teaches Business Studies at Abesan Comprehensive College (Education District I) and Mrs. Ruth Ogbemudia of New Era Girls Senior Secondary School, Surulere, (Education District IV), who teaches Economics and Marketing.

She applauded Mr. Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo- Olu for his unflinching support in providing basic education to the citizens and his genuine efforts at increasing the Teacher-Student ratio in Post- Primary Schools, as well as providing needed resources for capacity building for Teachers in Lagos State, towards achieving the T. H . E. M. E .S + Agenda of Education and Technology.

In his remark, the President, Albinism Association of Nigeria, Mr. Motolani Ojuri appreciated the Commission and celebrated her commitment in ensuring enrollment of its members as Teachers of the State Teaching Service.

He Implored these members to make good use of the opportunity accorded them by the State Government, which is also aimed at improving the overall performance of their members.
This, he opined, would be the only way to show that they are worthy of their appointments.
