The Chancellor, Covenant University and General Overseer of Winners Church, Dr. David Oyedepo has urged graduating students of the university to take responsibility early in life so that they do not become liabilities to their parents.
Addressing the students at the convocation on Friday, Oyedepo said responsibility is a choice that they must take if they want to excel.
His words: “Everybody is responsible for the outcome of his life. Be poised to take responsibility, otherwise you become a liability. No one goes forward sitting down. I take responsibility to stay awake.
Nothing keeps a man on his toes like a sense of responsibility.”
He said parents cannot hand over their accomplishments to their wards as he urged them to allow their children to take responsibility for their lives.
Oyedepo highlighted the advantages of taking responsibility, stating that it leads to excellence.
According to him, “nothing keeps a man focussed other than commitment to his ambition. You can’t be committed without being productive. You can’t be productive without being creative in your approach. You can’t be consistently creative without being successful. And you can’t be successful without creating a path. Responsibility is not a gift. It is a choice.”
