Suspect Remanded Over Alleged Sexual Assault On 9-Year-Old Girl

A suspect identified as Njoku Chinonso has been remanded over accusations of sexual molestation of a minor in Lagos.
Justice Abiola Shodaloye, at the Ikeja Special Offences Court, ordered Chinonso’s remand and adjourned the trial till March 12 pending a hearing of bail application.
The case Prosecutor, Olusola Soneye, submitted that the accused, sometime in year 2020 and 2021, committed the offence at No 34 Ojo Street in Oguntade area of Shasha, Lagos.
Soneye said that the alleged offender, who is on a three-count charge bordering on sexual assault, defilement and indecent treatment of minor, molested the victim by inserting his penis into her genitals on several occasions.
Chinonso pleaded not guilty.
The offences were said to be punishable under Section 261 of the Criminal Law Cap C.17, Vol.3, Laws of Lagos State, 2015, if found guilty as a charge.
