A magistrate court in Isolo presided over by Hon. E. Telumo has optionally left a convict thief, Aminu Imran, to decide between holidaying in prison for 3 months or undertaking 6 six weeks of community service after pleading guilty to stealing a Tecno phone belonging to one Mr. Ramoni Ayodeji.
It was relayed that Ayodeji gave his phone to a friend identified as Awwal to charge in his apartment at 2, Igbojuwo Street, Itire where Aminu’s grandmother resides.
However, Aminu, who had come from Kano to visit his grandma, cunningly stole the phone, leaving no traces and disappeared.
According to the prosecutor, Oje Uagbale, on Sunday, March 3, 2018, around 8pm, the complainant, Ramoni Ayodeji gave his phone to his friend, Awwal who resides at 2, Igbojuwo, Itire, in order to charge. Later in the night, a young man identified as Aminu Imran came around all the way from Kano to visit his grandmother who is a neighbor to Awwal.
“In a blink of an eye, the supposedly charging phone went missing without any slight trace. Not until March 7 when Imran returned and confessed to have stolen the phone and sold it cheaply at Lawanson Market. This led to his arraignment at the court,” he concluded
Delivering the judgment in the absence of the magistrate, Hon. Adedayo sentenced the defendant to six weeks of community service or three months in prison with hard labour and to also return the phone to the owner.
