The Ifako-Ijaiye LGA Community Development Committee (CDC) began the new year (2024) on a spiritual note. As against its tradition of holding its monthly meeting on the second Tuesday of the month, the leadership of the CDC organised a special prayer to seek God’s intervention in our affairs from the local government to the federal government.
The focus of the prayer session was primarily centred around peace and progress, unity, and development. It was equally a moment to shower torrents of prayers on all the political office holders in the local government like including the lawmakers, Executive bodies, members of Lagos State Executive and the Nigeria Presidency.
Indeed, the prayer session was a soul rejuvenating session as prayers were offered fervently with spiritual guidance from the representatives of Ifako-Ijaiye Muslim Community and Christian Association of Nigeria, Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government.
In his welcome address, the CDC Chairman disclosed that the special prayer was organised to honour the message he received from God to pray for peace and progress in Ifako-Ijaiye and the nation at large. He therefore appreciated the presence of the reputable personalities who took out time in spite of their busy schedules to attend the prayer session. He prayed that God, in his infinite Mercy, would honour them in return.
Thereafter, the Council Boss, in his goodwill message, enumerated the significance of prayer as a potent weapon of good life and spiritual development. He commended the commitment of the CDC leadership, particularly the CDC Chairman, for organising the prayer. He emphasised that there can not be a better way to begin the year, save for asking God for His favours in the new year. Once again, he confirmed his willingness to complete the CDC Hall project before the expiration of the tenure as the Executive Chairman.
Meanwhile, the Council Boss while fielding questions from the press, expressed his delight at the CDC gesture and pledged that his government will continue to support all efforts geared towards ensuring peaceful co-existence amongst the people and development of our communities. In addition, he urged the residents to be rest assured of getting more dividends of democracy going forward.
Also speaking at the prayer session was the Council Manager, Alh. Akeem Adesanya and the Oba-elect of Iju-Ogundimu, Oba Gbolahan Matthew Ogundimu, who advised the CDC to always carry along all members of the CDAs for subsequent new year prayer and appealed for more support for the CDC building project.
However, Prof. Peter Adeniyi, the Chairman, Fundraising Committee, spoke on the urgent need to complete the CDC multipurpose hall project. It would be a thing of collective joy if the current structure is transformed into a befitting edifice as mirrored in the 3D design. He therefore urged all CDAs who are yet to pay up their contributions for the project to do so in earnest as our collective actions will make us achieve greatly.
In the same vein, the Ifako-Ijaiye APC Chairman, Deacon Banjo Omole, also buttressed on the imperativness of yielding to divine instructions when one receives one so as to avert impending calamity.
