At the Ikosi Ejinrin council secretariat, the atmosphere was charged with songs, applause and a sense of optimism as Hon. Sylvester Oluwadaunsi Ogunkelu, popularly known as Sketel, addressed the 10th Constituency Stakeholders’ Engagement.
The lawmaker representing Epe Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is no longer a political slogan but a practical framework that is transforming Nigeria’s economy, restoring national confidence and laying the foundation for long-term growth.
Sketel explained that this year’s engagement carried the theme “Governance in Action: The Gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda” to showcase visible achievements under the current administration. He told the gathering of constituents, party leaders, traditional rulers and community stakeholders that renewed hope is already a vision in progress.
He pointed to reforms that he said have boosted investor confidence, improved Nigeria’s credit rating and diversified revenue sources. He also spoke on the expansion of infrastructure, citing modern road networks, upgraded seaports and improved public facilities as evidence that Nigeria is positioning itself as Africa’s commercial hub.
The lawmaker noted that agricultural interventions such as mechanised farming, easier access to credit and wider markets are empowering local farmers and boosting food production, putting Nigeria on the path to self-sufficiency.
He described the Nigerian Education Loan Fund as a landmark policy that is giving students fresh opportunities while restoring stability to campuses.
According to him, the Renewed Hope Agenda is a deliberate blueprint for recovery designed to lift millions out of poverty and unlock opportunities for every Nigerian.
Sketel drew a parallel between Tinubu’s federal reforms and the achievements of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in Lagos. He praised the state government’s record in housing, transportation, urban renewal and people-centred legislation, calling Lagos a model of sustainable city development.
The event also became a moment of celebration as constituents intermittently broke into songs in appreciation of Sketel’s six years of service in the assembly. As part of his contributions to the community, the lawmaker donated a transformer to residents of Temu to boost electricity supply and promised that more development initiatives would follow.
Sketel concluded his address by commending President Tinubu’s courage in steering Nigeria back toward economic stability. He pledged to replicate that leadership style at the grassroots, assuring his constituents of better days ahead.
