Shun All Social and Religious Vices, Tutor General Tells Pupils
The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of Education District III, Dr. Olufunke Oyetola has advised students to shun all forms of social and religious vices that can impact negatively on their academics.
Dr. Oyetola gave the advice during the 2023 edition of Lagos State Education District III Ramadan lecture, titled “Quality Education, A Sustainable Development Goal: Islamic Perspective” held recently at the NUT pavilion, Ibeju Lekki.
The Permanent Secretary pleaded with participants at the Ramadan Lecture to exhibit the spirit of forgiveness, saying that the Ramadan period is a holy month when good deeds are rewarded.
Also speaking during the programme, the Guest Lecturer, UstazMusa Muhammad Abu Haneefah said that quality education must reflect on the individual’s disposition within the society, because society is a reflection of the quality education received by everyone.
He urged teachers and parents to teach their wards to be patiently and morally upright. According to the Muslim Cleric, the overall makeup of a student must be taken into consideration while teaching them as this will go a long way in enhancing their future.
As part of the Ramadan Lecture, there was a Quran recitation competition that produced Abdul Wasiu Muhammad of ElemoroCommunity Junior High School as the overall winner, while Abdul Samad Badmus of Ibeju Senior High School came first in the quiz competition.
