The Chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Shamsudeen Olaleye (Shammeh), has assured residents of Aniete Crescent that work would soon commence on the dilapidated bridge.
Shammeh, who was responding to a report by ECHONEWS in which the residents had urged the council boss to repair the bridge to ease their plight appealed to them to exercise more patience promising that work will soon commence on the project.
During a media chat with our correspondent, the chairman noted that the council is adequately aware of their plight but stressed that the community would need to exercise more patience if they want a quality job done on the dilapidated bridge.
He emphasised that the council has other roads that require urgent attention hence, the need for them to be patient and be optimistic.
His words: “It is true, the residents came with an SOS message to the council. We listened to them and we took the necessary step and part of the necessary step is to go to the place and find a solution to the drainage issue. We have since awarded the job to a contractor and the contractor had visited the site.
“Yes, the complaints of the residents as I’ve taken it is that the pace of work is slow and to us it is understandable. We’ve appealed to the residents to exercise more patience in order to get a good job done there. They should equally understand that the council exists for all. We have many places begging for our attention and it is not possible to attend to all these requests from the residents all at once. They should exercise patience. We shall make sure that their pains are taken away.
“Their place is not the only place in the council area that is prone to floods, there are several others and we are attending to all simultaneously.”
