Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru distributes over 8,500 food packs to households across the Lagos East Senatorial District.
Beneficiaries from the 16 local governments and local council development areas of the district gathered in excitement at distribution centres within their communities, grateful for the timely support.
The distribution event, held Yesterday, Friday14th of June 2024, saw hundreds of the 16 local governments residents gather to receive the food packages, which included essential items such as rice, beans, vegetable oil, and other non-perishable goods.
Senator Abiru, representing the Lagos East Senatorial District, emphasized the importance of community support and solidarity, especially during festive seasons.
Abiru, who chairs the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions, and the Southern Senators’ Forum, reiterated his unwavering commitment to enhancing the quality of life for his constituents through meaningful legislation, programs, and interventions.
Understanding the current economic challenges, especially the high cost of staple foods during this festive season, I urge our people to remain patient with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The far-reaching policy decisions being made will soon start yielding positive results,” Senator Abiru assured in his Sallah goodwill message.
He expressed optimism that the Food Pack Programme would alleviate some of the hardships faced by Lagos East residents, complementing the federal government’s efforts to ensure food security, stabilize commodity prices, and support from the state government under Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.
“This initiative aims to bring smiles to the faces of our residents during Eid-el-Kabir and ensure that they can celebrate joyfully with their loved ones,” Abiru added.
Community leaders and beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the senator’s generosity. “Senator Abiru has always been a pillar of support for us,” said Alhaji Rafiu Salami, a community leader in Epe.
