Saudi Firm To Offer Free Eye Care To 4,000 Lagos Residents

No fewer than 4,000 residents in Lagos are to benefit from a free eye care program facilitated by a Saudi Arabian firm, King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief, to support individuals with eye and sight problems.

The firm, also known as KSrelief, disclosed that the that the one-week event tagged ”Saudi Noor Ophthalmic” marks an important recognition of the healthcare gaps in urban centres alongside the need to address eye health challenge in densely populated areas.

KSrelief stated that following previous eye care initiative held in Yobe, Kano and Bauchi states, the ongoing program at the Gbagada General Hospital is in line with the it’s efforts to support preventive eye care in Nigeria.

During the flag-up of the exercise at yesterday, a stakeholder of the firm, Mohammed Alsahabi, said that the beneficiaries, at no cost, will be put through diagnostic eye screenings, cataract surgeries with intraocular lens, implants and correction of refractive errors and provision of eyeglasses.

Alsahabi mentioned that the firm has conducted more than 218,000 eye tests, restored over 21,000 patient’s sight through surgery alongside the distribution of 45,000 sunglasses since it began operation in Nigeria from 2019.

Alhasabi informed that KSreleif has carried out more than 3,400 humanitarian projects in over 107 countries since its establishment in 2015.

Alsahabi emphasized on the firm’s interest in strong bilateral ties with Nigeria in curbing preventable blindness.
