Sanwo-Olu Eyes Greater Impact Lagos International Theatre Festival

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and the team lead of the upcoming Lagos International Theatre Festival have disclosed the content of the upcoming festival which will start on Thursday, November 14th.

They said there will be Twenty-five stage plays, and 3 international showpieces will headline the LITF 2024.

The festival is said to run consecutively for four days, November 14 to 17 across for significant venues in Lagos City. This festival is to celebrate culture, creativity and collectiveness, whilst taking the world through the incredible journey of the great world of theatre.

The places where the event will hold are Terra Kulture Arena, MUSON Centre, University of Lagos and Glover Hall, the audience will also get to watch international plays from the United States of America, South Africa and Zambia.

Sanwo-Olu at the ceremony to officially announce the date of the festival on Tuesday, November 5, said “Our hope is to use this brilliant initiative to support theatre practitioners and to encourage listing art activities ahead so that visitors to our state can have an idea of what each month offers for them.”

Mrs Bolanle Austin Peters, the founder of the LITF and theatre producer, said the festival will be held yearly to showcase talents, portray African history and provide a medium for quality engagement. She added that this festival is also to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her group “Terra Kulture”

“After several world-class plays that we have promoted locally and internationally and after training more than 26,000 youngsters through the Terra Academy for the Arts, we are delighted to be using LITF to draw attention to live theatre, determined to continue to lead the charge that stage plays are alive and well in Nigeria,” she said.
