Sanwo-Olu Commissions First LG-owned Radio Station, Market In Mushin
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has commissioned Nigeria’s first-ever local government-owned radio station, Ishokan 106.7 FM, alongside a series of infrastructural projects including roads and a modern market in Mushin.
Represented by Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the Governor commended the Mushin LG Chairman, Hon. Emmanuel Bamigboye, for what he described as “trailblazing projects worthy of emulation by other councils.”
“This is how governance should be — impactful, people-driven, and innovative,” the Governor declared.
“The establishment of this radio station is a bold step toward enhancing communication with the grassroots. Add to that the roads, market, and centralized services – this is true leadership.”
He also used the opportunity to urge Lagosians to take voter registration seriously. “If you truly believe in the progress we’re making and support President Bola Tinubu’s mandate, then make sure you have your PVC. Our future as a nation depends on active participation,” he added.
State APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, echoed this sentiment, revealing that Mushin has the highest number of polling units in Lagos with 547. “We’re expecting at least 136,000 votes from this LG in 2027,” he said.
Hon. Bamigboye, in his speech, encouraged residents to safeguard and make the most of the new facilities, promising even more transformational projects ahead.
