Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has cleared the sum of N68,500,000,000 billion pension arrears for retirees in the state’s public service.
The state’s Head of Service, Bode Agoro, disclosed this on Tuesday at a public sensitization on Contributory Pension Scheme, CPS, for public servants.
Agoro, at the event organized by the Lagos State Pension Commission, LASPEC, commented Sanwo-Olu for making sure the retirees receive their retirement benefits immediately they exit service.
He said that the CPS, which was implemented in March 2007, was established to provide sustainable retirement plan where the retirees will enjoy financial security after service.
Agoro also noted the initiative also provides placement on reforms of public servants as well as retirees.
