Sanwo-Olu, Ariyoh dedicate tree planting to frontline health workers

Appreciating the doggedness and the risks taken in fighting coronavirus, the Lagos Staye Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Hon. Bolaji Muse Ariyoh have dedicated the year 2020 Tree Planting Day to the frontline health workers in the state and local government area respectively.

The governor, who was represented at the tree planting exercise in Oshodi by the Assistant Director at the Lagos State Parks and Garden, Mr. Saheed Sanusi, said this year’s tree planting day was dedicated to health workers for working day and night in combating COVID-19 pandemic in the state.

Also speaking at Owoseni Primary School, venue of the tree planting, Ariyoh said the importance of the health workers can never be over emphasised given their commitment and dedication to the fight against the coronavirus pandemic in the community and state as a whole.

He enjoined the residents to imbibe the culture of planting trees in their domains and avoid cutting trees to guarantee green environment for sustainable growth and healthy living in the community and state at large.

He said: “The commemoration of this year’s tree planting is of value to everyone in the community, however, we are dedicating the day to the frontline workers who have been risking their lives for the safety of all in the community and the nation at large.”

The council boss stressed that tree planting and preservation would help in conserving the environment from erosion and provide quality air for benefit of the residents.

Other dignitaries at the event include leader of the council legislative arm, Hon Obasa, Secretary to the Local Government, Hon Taoheed Oladipupo, supervisors and other few council executives members.
