Sales Persons On Trial For Wine Theft

Two sales representatives have appeared on trial at the Surulere Magistates’ Court for allegely stealing bottles of assorted wine worth over N1 million from their employer.

The defendants, Balikis Kadiri and Timileyin Omotosho of ages 25 and 24 respectively were arrainged on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The duo however pleaded not guilty.

But the prosecutor, Insp Courage Ekhueorohan, countered and told the court that the defendants and others at large committed the offences sometime in February at No. 43, Bode Thomas, Surulere, Lagos.

Ekhueorohan alleged that the duo stole one bottle of Ace of Spade wine worth N77I,000 and sixteen bottles of assorted red wine, all valued at N236,000.

The prosecutor said that the wine belonged to their employer, one Chimezie Okeke.

Ekhueorohan alleged that the offences contravene Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Ganiyu Tiamiyu, granted each of the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He ordered that the sureties must have their addresses verified by the court, and adjourned the case until April 4.
