Reconstructed Ifoshi Road Opened To Motorists

The Ifoshi Road in Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, Lagos State, has been reopened for use for motorists and other road users.
This major thoroughfare, running from Iyana-Ejigbo to Pipeline, underwent a comprehensive two-phase reconstruction effort, culminating in its full accessibility.
The first phase, extending from Pipeline to Killer Busstop, saw the road resurfaced with a fresh layer of asphalt, making it usable for commuters.
Subsequently, the second phase, spanning from Killer Busstop to Iyana-Ejigbo, was reconstructed with interlocking bricks, completing the transformation of the entire roadway.
The official reopening took place during the early hours of Thursday, November 2, 2023, as the Chairman, Alhaji Monsurudeen Oloyede Bello (OBE), along with his dedicated team, the Executive Team, the Management Team, several Council Staff, and other key stakeholders, worked diligently to ensure the road was clean and all obstructions were removed.
However, it is disheartening to note that some shop owners and other road users have begun to pose a threat to the road’s integrity by leaving vehicles parked on it.
In response, Alhaji Monsurudeen Oloyede Bello (OBE) issued a stern warning to all road users, urging them to responsibly maintain the road or face sanctions.
The Chairman emphasized that vehicles should not be parked on the road, and activities such as parties or mechanic work should not be conducted on the road.
He also stressed the importance of not littering the drainage or roadside with refuse, all in a collective effort to ensure the road’s durability and longevity for the enjoyment of the community.
Notably, the last reconstruction of Ifoshi Road took place more than two decades ago under the leadership of Col. Buba Maruwa. Alhaji Monsurudeen Oloyede Bello (OBE), during his re-election campaign, pledged to fully reconstruct the road, and his administration has now delivered on this promise. The reconstruction project encompasses not only the road but also the drainage systems, kerbs, culverts, and more.
