RAAF Female Unity Cup: Four Clubs Seal Semifinal Spots

The maiden edition of the Raliat Anako Abdulsalam Foundation (RAAF) Female Unity in collaboration with the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) kicked off with top class display of grassroots talents at the iconic Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan on Wednesday, April 23.

16 teams participated in the first knockout stage where eight clubs proceeded to the quarter final while four teams sealed their places in the semifinal.

Ayisat Yusuf FA edged out Dannaz Ladies Feeders through penalty shootout to advance to the last four, while Unification Talents shipped aside Unizee Sheila by a lone goal to reach the semifinal of the competition.

FC Phoenix Queens knocked out Ablaze Amazons in the penalty shootout (4-2) to zoom into the semifinal, as CATS Ladies pip Ghetto Tigers Feeders 2-0 to complete the last four teams.

Ayisat Yusuf FA will face Unification Talents in the semifinal, while FC Phoenix Queens will battle CATS Ladies for a place in the final.

The RAAF foundation which was founded by Mrs Raliat Abdulsalam gears their focus on the unity and development of women’s football in Nigeria to derive excellence.

Each 16 participating teams were given N100,000 each as participating fees for the tournament and their accomodation for the duration of the two days competition were sponsored by the organizers of the tourney.

The semifinal and final will take place at the 5,000 capacity Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan on Thursday, April 24.
