PSSDC Set To Partner With Ibeju-Lekki LGA

The Director-General, Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), Mr. Adekunmilola Toluwase Adio-Moses has said that PSSDC is ready to partner with Ibeju-Lekki Local Government to improve the capacity building of its workforce.

The Director-General stated this during his recent courtesy visit to the Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, Mr. Abdulahi Sesan Olowa.

Adio-Moses commended the Chairman on his huge investment in capacity building and manpower in the Local Government since his assumption of office, including giving scholarships to students at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels in the area.

The Director-General, who spoke through the Director of Programmes, PSSDC, Mr. Olufemi Sholaja,  requested more collaboration with the Local Government in areas of Structured Training Programmes for officers on Grade Level 05 and below, as well as capacity building and training of other categories of workers towards achieving the T-H-E-M-E-S Agenda of the State Government.

He implored the Chairman to revive the Structured Induction Programme usually done in collaboration with PSSDC in the past for newly recruited officers of the local government for effective understanding of the public administration by the staff.

The Deputy Director of Local Government and Security Studies in PSSDC, Mrs. Rita Shitta-Bey also enjoined Olowa to sponsor more of their local government staff for Local Government and Administration Studies which is a nine-month course to improve their capabilities in the delivery of services to the local government and State at large.

Responding, the Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Mr. Abdulahi Sesan Olowa appreciated the Director-General, PSSDC and his management team for the visit.

He noted that it is important to invest in the capacity building of the people at the grassroots level to produce qualified and efficient manpower.

He said his administration is interested in the capacity building of its workforce so that the Local Government Area can be among the best transformed and developed cities in Lagos in the nearest future.

Olowa disclosed that the Ibeju-Lekki LGA is ready to partner with PSSDC so that its staff can be rightly guided and acquire more knowledge in public service through the experienced and highly qualified personnel at the Centre.

The Chairman, therefore, advised PSSDC to present a proposal to the Local Government, especially in the areas where the local government urgently needs to improve its capacity building.
