Princess Folashade Oba Olabanji Urges Grassroots Leaders to Champion Development as She Bags New Honour

Princess Folashade Oba Olabanji has called on grassroots leaders across Nigeria to embrace courage, innovation, and collective responsibility in driving sustainable development at the community level.
Speaking shortly after receiving an award from the Golden Integrated Empowerment Foundation, the influential Ikorodu-born leader said effective leadership goes beyond titles, emphasising that every citizen has a vital role in shaping the nation’s growth.
“One voice has the power to influence a room, and that same voice can reshape an entire nation,” she said, encouraging local leaders to remain bold and steadfast in the face of Nigeria’s socio-economic realities.
She commended leaders who continue to demonstrate resilience despite prevailing challenges, noting that meaningful progress depends on shared responsibility. “We all share responsibility in addressing the issues confronting our country. Leadership is not limited to those in office — every citizen has a role to play. Growth is a process, and we must all contribute to that process,” she added.
Princess Folashade expressed deep appreciation to the Golden Integrated Empowerment Foundation for finding her worthy of the recognition. She dedicated the award to the people of Ikorodu, acknowledging their unwavering support throughout her political journey.
The ceremony drew community leaders, political stakeholders, women’s groups and youth representatives, all of whom applauded the foundation’s decision to honour her contributions to grassroots advancement.
