Lawmakers at the Lagos State House of Assembly have informed the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency, LNSC, on the need to prepare for the emergence of state police.
The House members through the Chairman, Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Information, Security and Strategy, Hon.Stephen Ogundipe, told the Safety Corps members while on a working visit to the LNSC office in the state on Monday.
Ogundipe’s visit alongside other members of the Committee noted that the unwelcome condition of security challenges in the state and country at large requires bringing security agencies closer to the people, urging the LNSC for effective collaboration in terms of service delivery.
Reflecting on the improvement in the services by the LSNC, the visiting lawmakers implored the agency not to rest on its laurels, rather, continue pushing in efforts in ensuring a crime free habitat for the residents.
He gave kudos to the General Manager of the agency, Ifalade Oyekan as he continues to prepare the corps for the emergence of a state police, which is in the offing.
Reflecting on the visit, Oyekan, thanked Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his unalloyed commitment to the safety of lives and properties in the state which according to him spurs the agency’s unwavering drive for excellence.
The safety corps boss also promised that the agency will without let-up be determined to live up to its mandate in the governor’s T.H.E.M.E.S. Plus Agenda.
He appreciated the House Assembly, the visiting committee, and Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, for their legislative and oversight support at all times.
