Portable Reacts After Airport Prank Gone Wrong
By Daniji Emmanuel
There was mild commotion at the Port Harcourt International Airport on Sunday when controversial street-hop singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, flared up after being confronted by a group of pranksters.
Eyewitnesses said the pranksters, believed to be online skit makers, had attempted to stage a “social experiment” on the singer as he exited the arrival terminal. However, the plan quickly went south when Portable mistook their approach for an attempted attack or harassment.
A viral video of the incident showed the visibly agitated artist shouting angrily at the group while being restrained by airport security personnel, who stepped in to prevent further escalation.
The video has since sparked mixed reactions across social media. While some Nigerians criticized the pranksters for invading the singer’s personal space, others felt Portable overreacted to what they described as harmless content creation.
Reacting to the incident in a follow-up video on Monday, Portable accused the pranksters of being “death pranksters,” claiming they tried to use him for a fake death skit.
“Those people came to prank me. They were death pranksters. It almost turned to cultist level. Ten yellow no fit stand one blue,” he said, adding that reckless pranks in public places should be stopped before they cause harm.
The singer also called on authorities and bloggers to clamp down on creators who risk people’s safety in the name of content, saying his name and reputation were being unfairly exploited for attention.
